Declaration on
Minerals in Conflict Zones

In recent years, concerns have grown that the exploitation and trade of certain minerals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its neighboring countries are helping to finance armed conflicts characterized by extreme levels of violence. CUSTOMAIR recognizes that the mining, trade, processing, and export of cassiterite, columbite-tantalite (coltan), wolframite, and gold, and their derivatives tin, tantalum, and tungsten, have contributed to armed conflict and human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and its neighboring countries.

POLICY

CUSTOMAIR believes that any materials originating from conflict zones should not play any role within its processes and products, therefore, it is committed to applying a systematic approach to ensure that applicable international guidelines and regulations are respected and complied with (Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act; Regulation (EU) 2017/821 on due diligence and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas). CUSTOMAIR is committed to identifying, evaluating, and, where appropriate, rejecting proposals for tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold or “3TG” that may directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its neighboring countries. CUSTOMAIR also encourages its suppliers to implement a policy and conduct responsible sourcing of conflict minerals within their own supply chains through due diligence practices that comply with OECD Guidance.
